Direct drive or belt drive? Which one is better for an electric skateboard?
We filmed a video going up a mountain with both boards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag68U8Ew640&t=124s
Direct Drive: Needs almost no maintenance, completely quiet and more stealthy. However, I don't recommend going smaller than 97mm in wheels size or bigger than 130mm.
Belt: More versatile as you can change the gear ratio + for this board any wheels from Street to AT work + more waterproof.
Both boards: Same top speed and about the same range
Our recommendation: As soon as you want the ability to ride off-road I recommend the Belt Version
ONSRA BLACK Carve 2 Direct Drive: Most quite Ride, insanely quiet, stealthy, customer usually chose this model in Europe as electric skateboards are not allowed there, Disadvantage: No bigger wheels than 130mm supported, the bigger your wheels are the worse your acceleration is. Perfect for beginners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GEyIoJIouw
ONSRA BLACK Carve 2 Belt Drive: Most versatile, louder than direct drive but still pretty quiet, Any wheels from 80mm - 200mm work, Lighter than Direct Drive, Off-Road Capability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkqoBbrzlRU&t=21s
ONSRA BLACK Carve 2 Belt Drive AT: When you plan to ride mostly Off-Road this is the board for you! Any Direct Drive model is not off-road capable and is not recommend for off-road rides. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkqoBbrzlRU&t=21s
ONSRA Challenger Direct Drive: Most quite Ride, insanely quiet, stealthy, customer usually chose this model in Europe as electric skateboards are not allowed there, Disadvantage: No bigger wheels than 130mm supported, the bigger your wheels are the worse your acceleration is. Not as good for beginners as it's more difficult to ride due to it's wheel base and power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCbIetFw28E
ONSRA Challenger Belt Drive: Most versatile, louder than direct drive but still pretty quiet, Any wheels from 80mm - 200mm work, Lighter than Direct Drive, Off-Road Capability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9xzrSOpaBg&t=1s
ONSRA Challenger AT: When you plan to ride mostly Off-Road this is the board for you! Any Direct Drive model is not off-road capable and is not recommend for off-road rides. This board is extremely difficult to ride and we recommend to watch this video before you buy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QbJZphwq00&t=201s
